Brief description about the event: The Online International Conference on "Intelligent Systems, Electrical and Communication Technology-2021 (ICISECT–21)" was hosted by the Departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. ICISECT-21 aims to provide a common platform to all the leading academic scientist, researchers, research scholarsto exchange and share their experience and innovative ideas in the latest technologies in different areas like Intelligence Systems, Power Electronics, Communication Technology etc..This conference provided an inter disciplinary platform for academicians, researchers and other experts from various fields to present their novel ideas, discuss their thoughts as well as the challenges encountered and solutions to be adopted in the emerging areas of engineering and technology. The Programme was Initiated by Patron Dr P. Santosh Kumar Patra. During his address note, Principal Sir emphasized the important role of conferences to build a proper career for researchers as well as academicians in advanced areas of engineering and technology. Later the event was corresponded by eminent keynote speaker,Chief Guest Dr Srinivas Nowduri, Professor, Department of Computer Information systems, Pueblo Community College, USA. Convenor of conference Dr. B. Hari Krishna, Prof. & HoD, ECE, Dr. N Ramchandra, Prof & HOD of EEEheaded the conference along with committee members.Around 200 faculty and research scholars from various engineering college/Universities were participated in the program from all over the country. Glimpses of the Event
The two-day conference i.e., on 09-04-2021&10-04-2021 was organized in two sessions perday. The Inaugural session started at 10:30AM by congratulating all the participants with a motivational speech followed by conference proceeding inauguration by the Patron Dr P. Santosh Kumar Patra, Principal, SMEC. Later a short and informative session was conveyed by Chief Guests Dr Srinivas Nowduri, Professor, Department of Computer Information systems, Pueblo Community College, USA. Sir delivereda wonderful session on “IOT Security” till 12:00PM.
As the aim of the conference was to create opportunity to academicians, research scholars to present their research and share their views, the time came, and all the participants presented their papers in the respective field heading by the Dignitaries as session chairs from 12:00 PM to 1:30PM. It is followed by the session II from 2:00PM to 3:30PM. The session was closed for the Day I.
On Day-2, session 3 was started at 10.30AM, as all the participants utilized the wonderful opportunity and participated very enthusiastically as the Day 1. The undergraduate students presented their innovative projects and utilized our ICISECT–21online platform. The faculties from various colleges also presented their innovative ideas in this platform.
The valedictory session was started at 2.00PM. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. B. Hari Krishna, Prof. & HoD, ECEcongratulating all the participants from various parts of the country. At the end of the Conference the proceedings were placed on the Website www.smec.ac.in for the easy access to the participants. The feedback is collected from all the participants through google form. The response and experiences feedback were excellent from the participants and are interested to be the part of the event in the future.

Name of the event: Faculty Development Program on BIG DATA TOOLS

Brief description about the event: A 6-days online Faculty Development Program on “BIG DATA TOOLS” was organized by the Departments of Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology, from 18th May to 23rd May 2020, in association with Computer Society of India, Hyderabad Chapter. The FDP was well appreciated by the participants and the response was over-whelming.
The objective of this FDP is to promote research activities and also to provide a platform to train and educate the research scholars, faculty, and people from industry to interact on cutting edge technologies in the emerging area of Big Data Tools with help of its applications.
The online FDP was inaugurated on 18th May 2020 using ZOOM platform. The Program started by welcome address by the conveners Dr. P Udayakumar, HOD (CSE) and Dr. S V Achyuta Rao, HOD (IT). The dignitaries were welcomed by Principal Dr. P Santosh Kumar Patra, The CSI representative, Sh. Chandra S Dasaka, highlighted the key points of the FDP, Dr. A Amarendra Babu, Dean (Academics), St. Martin’s Engineering College addressed participants and gave valuable and knowledge insights of FDP theme. About 1000 faculty and research scholars of various engineering college / Universities from all over India were participated in the program.
On first day, the speaker Dr. D Venkata Srinivas Kumar started with the introduction of Big data. He discussed about the importance of data in technical era. He also explained about how to use HADOOP with detailed architecture and applications.

On Second day, Dr. Sunil Vuppala discussed Data Science life cycle, data storage tools and data transformation He also explained about different research issues like scalability, Cloud Computing and Big Data Adoption and Analytics, Security and Privacy Issues.

On third day Mr. Sai Pawan explained in detail about how to download the required software i.e. Cloudera and Virtual Box along with practical session. He also explained of Big Data utilizing Cloudera Platform, Hadoop and HDFS package in Java along with practical implementation.

On fourth day session was handled by Mr. Prasad with introduction of Hive and Kafka in context of Big data. He explained about Oracle VM VirtualBox and handled practical session with the installation of Hive.

On fifth day Mr. Srinivas discussed about importance of HDFS and MapReduce. He also explained about Sqoop on Cloudera platform along with practical exposure along with Mapper.

The resource person Dr. Suresh was the final day speaker, started with an example regarding AI Chatbot and discussed about its several applications. He explained about how to develop a Chatbot with dialogbox and implementation of Chatbot with Deep Learning.

In all the six days the participants strength was maintained more than 900. All the speakers explained their concept with practical implementation of tools. All the interactive sessions were fruitful and the participants found all the sessions were very informative and useful.
Sixth day speech was followed by valedictory program. The Program Coordinators of FDP, Dr. Kalai Selvan and Dr Raja thanked all the resource persons and briefed the six days online FDP. Dr. P Udayakumar HOD (CSE), convener of FDP greeted everyone involved in the program and shared his views about FDP followed by HOD (IT) and convener of FDP Dr. S V Achuta Rao, thanked all the organizers for successful completion of the programme. Principal of St. Martin’s Engineering College, Dr. P Santosh Kumar Patra thanked the organizing team, speakers and all the participants. He also thanked Dr. Chandra Dasaka for his support. He appreciated both CSE and IT departments for organizing such a wonderful program and mentioned that such huge online gathering he hasn’t witnessed ever. Finally, Faculty Development Program ended with the Vote of Thanks by Controller of Examination and Advisory Committee Member, Dr. M. V. Rao. The program ended with a grand success.

Brief description about the event: The Departments of Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology organized a Three days online FDP on Internet of Things (IoT) in association with Computer Society of India, Hyderabad Chapter during 5th to 7th May, 2020. The program was organized with an objective to train the faculty in the emerging and cutting edge technology in the field of Information Technology. The speakers were drawn from reputed R&D labs and industries. The Program started by welcome address by Dr. M.Venkata Rao, Program coordinator. All the guests were welcomed by Dr. P. Udayakumar, HOD(CSE) and Dr. S. V. Achuta Rao, HOD(IT). The Principal of the college Dr. P. Santosh Kumar Patra, addressed the participants. About 500 faculty and research scholars from various engineering college/Universities were participated in the program from all over the India. The resource persons Mr. Harivendrana Chary, CEO and Co-Founder at TechieYan Technologies, Mr. Laxmi Prasad Putta, Founder of Vassar Labs, Mr. Satish Rao Pullacheri, Senior Principle Security Engineer at Oracle India Pvt. Ltd., delivered the lectures with real time examples and applications of IoT. Mr. Hari introduced the IoT technology and various devices like sensors, computing devices, wearable’s etc. can be interconnected, communicate and control through internet. Mr. Prasad has explained about various business models in which IoT technology can be applied for smart management. Mr. Satish has explained how to gather information’s, analyzed it and create an action to help someone with a particular task, or learn from a process. Faculty members from various colleges were actively participated and their doubts have been clarified by the speakers with explanations.
The Program was concluded by gracing the participants by Dr. A. Amerendra Babu, Dean(Academics), Dr.P.Udayakumar, HoD(CSE) and Dr. S. V. Achuta Rao, HoD(IT).

This program is aimed at acquainting faculties and delegates with the modalities of Data Science and Analytics by way of focusing on the concepts of Big Data, R programming and much more.
The FDP is completed on 21st December 2019 at 4:30 PM at St. Martin’s Engineering Collge. Ms. Karuna Gopal, President, Foundation for Futuristic Cities, MRICS as the chief guest for the valediction function and Mr. Chandra S. Dasaka, as the guest of honor attended the program and addressed the gathering. The program has been highly praised by the valuable guest and wished the participants a very successful future.
The function started with the welcome address by Dr. A AmarendraBabu, the program Coordinator of FDP. The Principal, SMEC, Dr. P Santosh Kumar Patra gave absolute address in which he insisted on imbibing technical skills with Analytics. Next Honorable Executive Director, Sri. G Chandrasekhar Yadav insisted that one should possess knowledge, skill and value in their life. Honorable Chairman, Sri. M. Laxman Reddy congratulated all the Organizers and participants for successful completion of program. Brief description about the event: Induction Program was held on 9th August 2019. The students were warmly welcomed by the Head of the department and their class In-charges in the seminar hall. Dr. P. Uday Kumar, HOD (CSE), delivered motivational speech to the students. He mentioned that there is lot of scope for the CSE students in campus placements and also the department made many MOUs with Industry to benefit the students. The coordinators also motivated the students to attend the classes regularly including practicals. Later the class mentors briefed about their roles, responsibilities, rules & regulations to be followed at the Institute.
All the new entrants were guided by the faculty members at different entry points, to find their respective departments and classrooms. The floor plans mentioning class location were placed on all notice boards, corridors and other important places of SMEC, helped the students in locating their classrooms.
The Honourable Principal, Dr. P. Santosh Kumar Patra, conveyed his message of assurance of global need based quality education, best laboratory frame work and enhanced placements at SMEC.
After the welcome speech, class mentors took the students for college and departmental visit which includes library, canteen and various SMEC campus amenities.

Virtual labs (https://vlab.co.in/) is a ‘National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology’ (NMEICT) initiative by MHRD. The project with involvement of a consortium of 11 reputed engineering institutes developed ~1100 Virtual experiments in 11 domains/disciplines. These experiments provide links to NPTEL lectures for a better understanding of theory and practicals. These experiments enable
1. Students to perform virtual experiments on various topics.
2. Faculty could use it for complementing and supplementing some of their course structure
3. Inquisitive students can extend beyond their course curriculum and disciplines

To promote the Usage of these experiments, we conduct workshops in various college Colleges who express interest in actively participating in spreading the Usage, We propose to conduct workshops in your college to familiarize your students and faculty with the Virtual Labs and enthuse them to adapt and do experiments in it.
